PUBLIC HEALTH CLUB - TOURO GOES GREEN!!

BRIEF HISTORY

Dr. Trina Mackie approached the Public Health Club, recruiting volunteers to man Touro's Energizer Station for Bike to Work Day in May, 2015. Public Health Club members and MPH candidates Annabelle Prasad and Matt Bozdech stepped up for the challenge. Inspired by the strong turnout for that event, Matt and Annabelle worked with the Public Health Club to turn Bike to Work Day into an ongoing monthly event. Excited for the opportunity to expand the environmental friendly movement beyond cyclists, the event encourages carpooling, recycling and other green lifestyle habits. The new event was named Zero Emissions day, but after two summer events, was rebranded as Touro Goes Green. The new name embodies everything we aim to promote through our event.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Public Health Club’s monthly Touro Goes Green Day helps to promote campus student life, active lifestyle, and a greener tomorrow. Every third Thursday of the month the PHC encourages the Touro community to walk, bike, or carpool to campus. Public Health Club officers host an Energizer Station the day of the event, which is located outside of Lander Hall on Touro University’s campus. Bike information and basic maintenance is offered to participating cyclists, and students are welcome to add to our "Touro Tree" where they can make a pledge towards their efforts for zero emissions.

We encourage our campus to use our hashtags! #TUCGOESGREEN #TUCCARPOOLSELFIE.
